So finally AT&T is admitting their cell phone service is non-existent in places. Iphone owners know how the bad the service is, with dead zones and dropped calls, but the news flash is that AT&T is admitting that their infrastructure can’t handle all the phones they sold and they are promising action.
AT&T says they are rolling out new cell phone towers – but here is the catch; consumers have to buy the cell towers, called MicroCells, for $150 and put them in their homes. AT&T calls it another way to “improve service”. Yes, you heard right. After you buy a iPhone and are signed up as a hostage of AT&T for 2 years, they break the news to you that you have to pay $150 more because you don’t have service, even though you pay AT&T every month for service. That is like having to pay thugs who threaten to burn down your house for fire protection. The Mafia has to be envious of the AT&T business model.
Meanwhile help is on the way.
The first bit of good news for iPhone AT&T users is that there is a way to get better service and cheaper rates -yes, better service and cheaper rates. A new app for the iPhone called Line 2 offers wireless calls over the Internet for $15 a month. For your $15, you get a second phone number and unlimited domestic calls. You can make unlimited calls over Voip when you have WiFi. The app is free for a 30 -day trial and allows you to bypass AT&T and their dead zones. Best of all, with Line 2 you can switch to a cheaper AT&T plan.
The second bit of good news for iPhone owners is that rumor has it that Apple plans to offer a non- AT&T version of the iPhone later this year. If the rumor turns out to be true, iPhone owners will no longer be hostages of AT&T. Providers such as Verizon could potentially be offering iPhone service. AT&T will then have to compete for customers, and may even have to start providing better service.

Hey this is great — love it
