Look out folks. The kooks from the funny farm are alive and well. The wackos call themselves the “sovereign citizen” movement and two years ago, I exposed their scams .Now the FBI is warning that the sovereign citizen movement is growing. According to the FBI,
“Sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or ‘sovereign’ from the United States. As a result, they believe they don’t have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments, or law enforcement.”
So how crazy are these folks? Two years ago, I uncovered them stealing mansions. They filed phony deeds, seized mansions they didn’t own, and occupied them. One of the leaders I confronted claimed he was a “sovereign”, and didn’t have to follow United States laws. Over the course of four months, the “sovereign citizen” ring that I exposed stole a dozen mansions before they were finally locked up, all the while saying they were “sovereign” and above the law.
It takes all kinds.
